Getting free samples at Sam’s Club, Costco, etc.

Happy weekend Moms!  There’s not going to be much substance to this post today (sorry), but just wanted to point out an observation while shopping at the local Sam’s Wholesale Club.  Ok, if you have a membership to one of these clubs, you know that weekends bring many, many FREE food samples.  I swear that some people go in there and make a meal out of it!  Now, I’ve noticed this every time I go in the store…The man or woman takes the sample and eats it.  Next, the employee serving the food gives their little sales pitch on the price and where to find it.  Now here comes the funny part.  The person receiving the sample seems surprised and/or pleased with the price given to them.  They may say, “Wow, that’s a good deal, I might get some of that.”  They stand around for a minute, look at the product, knowing good and well that they were not going to pick it up (85% of the time).  It never fails!  I guess it’s a guilt thing.  I used to do this myself, but then thought about how the employee could care less about whether or not you purchased the sample they were serving…

Dancing with Louis Van Amstel

Moms, first of all, I just want to let you know that I’m not going to try to use my blog to promote products all over the place. However, we (my husband & I) have a friend who is involved with a series of videos featuring Louis Van Amstel from Dancing with the Stars. I’m sure that there are a lot of you that follow the show so I thought some of you might want to learn about dancing with Louis!

By the way…Louis will be back next season on Dancing with the Stars!!! For those of you who follow the show, you know how well these people dance. You also know that these dancers are great teachers. Some of these celebrities have come a long way to get where they are today. The videos, entitled Let’s Dance Louis, help you learn how to dance with Louis. Dancing with Louis will help you learn the Salsa, Jive, Samba, Waltz, ChaCha, Tango, and more. Dance like a celebrity; Dance like a PRO!

Ok ladies, there are a few things to look at here:

  • These videos give you new activities to do with your husband or significant other…add a little more romance to the mix. :-)
  • Can we say…weight loss! (You know I’m a stickler for dancing as a form of exercise)
  • Dancing Events - It would definitely be nice to know what you are doing in a wedding, party, etc. Stand out, make yourself known!
  • What’s nice about the Dancing with Louis Van Amstel videos is that they are digital, meaning that you download and watch. So, the mobility of these videos is perfect for those who may want to learn to dance in private and impress those around you when you are finished. You can always put them on disk.`
  • Finally…come on…the guy looks good!

Anyways, I appreciate you all letting me speak about the dancing with Louis videos. There are different packages you can buy (with a money back guarantee), so check them out! Click here for more information ===> Dancing with Louis

Using the internet to educate your kids

It is obvious if you’re reading this that you have access to a computer. Many of us check our e-mail everyday but forget that the computer can be an excellent learning tool for our children. When the weather is too cold to go outside we, as moms, often find it difficult to fill the hours of the day without giving in to the temptation of turning on the tube every time we need a break. There are literally thousands of educational sources available on the internet that you and your children can enjoy and benefit from watching.

Yesterday Colbin (my 3 year-old) and I visited Alaska. We looked at it on a map and then went to YouTube and watched videos of glaciers, people salmon fishing, and seals playing. Next, we found Florida on the map and viewed videos of SeaWorld and Disney World, the Space Shuttle, and watched sport fisherman out in the Gulf.

Speaking of Disney, we visited Disney Channel Online and found a wealth of interactive material including games, stories, and music. Colbin and Cason especially enjoyed the Little Einsteins page. Here are some other educational sites for children:

So mommies, keep motivated and remember that your kids want and need to learn from you everyday!

Valentines Day Activity - Plant a Garden of Love!

Mommy Motivator

Mommies, Valentines Day 2008 is around the corner so it is time to get in touch with your creative side and create a day worth remembering! Let your kids enjoy being kids and get them excited about Cupid’s arrival. As a kid, my mom always bought me a Valentines Day gift but never established any Valentine’s Day traditions. We had Christmas and Easter traditions, but nothing for Valentine’s Day. This year I want to start a Valentine’s Day tradition that my kids will love and will hopefully do with their kids one day.

Why not plant a Valentine’s Day Garden

  • Go and buy those small heart candies or a candy of your choice that will serve as seeds.

Super Bowl Sunday (Giants vs. Patriots)

Well Mommies, yes, it is that time of year again. The day of the year that we both love and don’t love so much. :-) It’s a special occasion for the man in your life and typically turns out to be a work day for you. Don’t get me wrong, I love watching football and cheering on the team with the best uniform! It is a day that almost every man looks forward to. A day of last minute shopping and cleaning. It’s a man’s day! Here are some observations over the years:

  • Your man buys way too much at the grocery store to make his Super Bowl party the biggest and best ever (and you are left the next day with enough food and soda to feed a small country).
  • This may be the only game he watches all year, yet he seems to know all about every player and every statistic when talking with the guys.
  • He’ll make reference to his Golden Days in high school as a star football player, yet you know that he sat the bench.
  • He’ll send you to the kitchen for more food or beverages just as the racy Godaddy Superbowl ad (Danica Patrick Exposure) is played.
  • He jumps and screams at the referee on a bad call…but would never do that if you were watching a game with him.
  • You’ll hear him cuss a lot more than usual.

Of course this post was all in good fun and may not apply to all of us. But, I hope you enjoyed it. Whether today is a day of relaxation for you or a day of work, make sure to enjoy yourself. Monday comes too soon!

GO <insert team here>!!!!
