I love this time of year when the stores begin bringing our their spring gear. It’s nice to walk into a store to see all the pastel colors that remind you that warmer weather is right around the corner. Yesterday we came across some huge fake bugs at the dollar store. There were bags of beetle bugs, lady bugs, and grasshoppers. You can’t beat a bag of bugs for a dollar when it can potentially provide hours of entertainment for your children! Today we are going on a big bug hunt adventure! Colbin and I created
a list of the bugs that I am going to hide so we can check them off as we find them. This is an excellent opportunity to teach your kids how to create an organizational system. Put some crayons by the list and let them check them off or circle them when they find them. This will get them prepared to create a bigger checklist of bugs when spring arrives and the bugs come crawling out!
Mommies, if it is still too cold to go outside where you live then you can easily plan this activity indoors. Luckily we are getting a pretty day here in North Caronlina, so we will take our adventure outside. I am going to hide the bugs throughout the yard and give the boys their bug catching nets(which you can purchase at Walmart or probably any toy store if your child doesn’t already have one) so they can easily collect their bugs. The stores also have all different kinds of bug habitats that your kids can use as a home for their creepy crawlers.
Mommies, I hope this activity encourages you and motivates you to get creative with your kids. Plan an adventure and keep your kids smiling!
